Third-party cookies

Your rights and our obligations
Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to know what information we collect via cookies and to request its deletion. Session cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies (such as analytics cookies) can be cleared manually through browser settings or by using browser private/incognito mode, which does not persist cookies between sessions.
Do Not Track signals
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal to websites. This site currently does not respond to DNT signals automatically, as there is no consistent standard for how DNT should be honoured. You can still opt out of analytics tracking by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on, as described above, or by disabling analytics cookies in your browser settings.
Cookie consent and Australian law
Australian law does not currently require cookie consent banners in the same way as EU law (GDPR). The Privacy Act 1988 requires transparency about data collection, which this Cookie Policy satisfies. We do not use cookies to track you across other sites and do not sell cookie data to third parties. The cookies this site uses are limited to essential functionality and aggregated analytics.
Updates to this policy
This Cookie Policy was last updated on 22 March 2025. If we introduce new cookie types or change our analytics providers, this policy will be updated and the "last updated" date revised. Third-party analytics and privacy
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) with IP anonymisation enabled. This means the last octet of visitor IP addresses is removed before any data is recorded, preventing Google from identifying individual users. We do not share GA4 data with advertising networks or use it for remarketing. The data is used only to understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages are most visited, average session duration and approximate geographic distribution of readers (country level only).
What we do not do with cookies
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles. We do not share cookie data with sweepstakes casino operators or affiliate networks. We do not use pixel tracking from social media platforms. We do not use session recording software (such as Hotjar or FullStory). Our cookie use is strictly limited to the four cookies listed in the table above, plus any cookies set by the Google Analytics service under its standard configuration.
